The Georgian Hotel, a historical property in Santa Monica, Calif., is undergoing a refresh and will relaunch this January.
Opened in 1933, the Georgian is located on Ocean Drive along the Santa Monica waterfront. The hotel, which once attracted Hollywood A-listers like Charlie Chaplin, Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe, is known for its unique blend of Romanesque revival and art deco architecture and bright turquoise exterior.
Each of the property’s 112 rooms will be restored, while the hotel’s Sunset Terrace, Dining Room and Sunset Bar venues will all receive updates.
The project will also include the addition of two private meeting and dining spaces. These will include the Gallery, which will be home to a curation of artworks that rotate on a quarterly basis, and the Writer’s Room.
Many of the hotel’s original design components will be retained, however, with the Georgian’s interiors set to feature elements like custom art deco furniture, ornate lighting and Italian marble.
