Under a new partnership, American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) will make a “multimillion dollar, long-term annual investment” in technology development with Sabre, Sabre said Friday.
The partnership goes into effect in January and will last 10 years.
Also on Friday, GBT, No. 3 on Travel Weekly’s 2021 Power List, announced it plans to go public. Sabre was named as one of its investors.
Sabre and GBT’s partnership will focus on product innovation and further development of the distribution ecosystem, including collaboration on corporate travel booking capabilities, merchandising and retailing solutions and customer service initiatives.
In a statement, Sabre CEO Sean Menke said the company believes in the recovery of corporate travel, but expectations have changed during the pandemic.
“Our strategic partnership with GBT is rooted in the common beliefs we share regarding the technology needs which will enable participation throughout the travel ecosystem to meet these new demands,” Menke said.
