Abu Dhabi announces three-month extension to 50% traffic fine discount

The extension will be in place until June 22 – all black points and vehicle impounding due before that date will also be cancelled

Abu Dhabi police said the move is aimed at providing drivers with incentives to reduce the burden of fines and encourage people to follow road and traffic regulations to ensure safety.

The General Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police has announced a three-month extension of its previously announced 50 percent discount on traffic violations committed in the emirate, the UAE’s state–run WAM news agency has announced.

The move does not apply to traffic violations categorised as ‘dangerous’.

The extension will be in place until June 22. All black points and vehicle impounding due before that date will also be cancelled.

According to Abu Dhabi police, the move is aimed at providing drivers with incentives to reduce the burden of fines and encourage people to follow road and traffic regulations to ensure safety.

Drivers can pay fines through interest-free instalments – payable over the course of one year – though First Abu Dhabi Bank, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Mashreq, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank or Emirates Islamic Bank.
