In June, Delta will launch thrice-daily service between
Seattle and Dallas/Fort Worth, where American Airlines maintains its largest
hub.
The carrier also said it would begin flying between Seattle
and London Heathrow sometime in 2021. Delta currently flies to nine
international destinations from Seattle.
Both announcements appear to be a response to plans by
American and Alaska to strengthen their codeshare partnership, in part via the
launch of American’s first two international routes from Seattle. American
plans to begin Seattle-London service March 2021. The carrier also will fly from
Seattle to Bangalore, India, beginning in October.
Delta unveiled its plan for Seattle service to Dallas and
London as part of a broader announcement Monday. The carrier also will begin
daily Seattle-Columbus service and add a second daily frequency from Seattle to
Austin and Orlando. The domestic additions will launch on June 8. Delta will
fly the routes with new Airbus A220 aircraft.
