Kuwait asks passengers from 10 countries to provide proof they are coronavirus-free

Certificates must be issued by the Kuwaiti embassy in the passenger’s own country before travel

Passengers who do not provide the certificates will be denied access to Kuwait, the aviation authority warned.

Passengers arriving in Kuwait from a list of ten countries must produce a health certificate declaring they are free from coronavirus, before they are allowed entry.

According to a press statement issued by Kuwait’s civil aviation authority, certificates must be issued by the Kuwaiti embassy in the passenger’s own country before travel.

The list of countries is made up of the Philippines, India, Bangladesh, Egypt, Syria, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Georgia and Lebanon.

Passengers who do not provide the certificates will be denied access to Kuwait, the aviation authority warned.

Kuwait has already cut all transport links to Iran and several other countries, while GCC citizens can no longer use their respective IDs to travel between Gulf countries and must have passports.

The country’s Ministry of Health has also announced stringent new measures to examine all passengers arriving from Egypt and Syria for the virus.

The number of confirmed cases in Kuwait currently stands at 56, while to-date, the Middle East total has reached 2,535, the large majority of which are centred in Iran, where 77 deaths have been recorded.
