April can be a brilliant month for holidays; families can make use of the Easter break, while those who aren't tied to school holiday dates can still find plenty of deals.

Then of course winter is behind you and spring is in full force, meaning the weather starts to get a little warmer and sunnier.

It can be a particularly great time to go on a city break as it won't be too hot to do the sightseeing, not to mention it's a little quieter than the peak summer seasons.

However if you do fancy a holiday on the beach, there are plenty of destinations where it's hot and sunny too.

1. Mexico

Mexico has a diverse range of holiday types, and with average temperatures of around 26C, it's ideal weather for exploring or lazing on a beach.

3. Las Vegas

Las Vegas's desert location means that it's hot and sunny year-round, but during April the temperatures are a little more bearable at around 27C.

The city may be renowned for its nightlife, shows and casinos, but there's also plenty to explore in the day from the fascinating hotels, the rollercoasters and plenty of fun attractions if you're not interested in the gambling .

4. Lanzarote

The weather in April tends to be warm and sunny with temperatures around 22C, so it's ideal for those planning to explore the island and its fascinating volcanic landscapes.

5. Amsterdam
