Flight attendant Cierra shared on her TikTok channel @cierra_mistt how passengers can get an upgrade on their flight without paying for it.

The crew member explained that being nice to the crew and having a small gesture will definitely guarantee you “free coffee and tea” on board.

Cierra said: “One of the easiest ways to get a free upgrade is literally just being nice to your gate agent and flight attendant.”

However, passengers can make sure they get bumped to first class by bringing snacks to the crew, the flight attendant revealed.

“The miracles we can work when we are given some Starbucks or a pack of chocolate. Especially on those long days when we have back-to-back flights and we don’t even have time to go get some food.”

Flight attendant Miguel Muñoz exclusively told Express.co.uk that he will always upgrade or give better treatment to those passengers who bring “Toblerone or Cadbury Dairy Milk Buttons” from the terminal.

He explained: “I am automatically nicer to the person who had that nice gesture. The cabin chief would always offer them free coffee and tea and if there are better seats available, we will move them!”

Passengers should note, however, that this will only work if the flight is not full and there are seats available in first class.

Holidaymakers can bring sweets, chocolate or even a takeaway coffee on board for the cabin crew and pilots to enjoy during the flight.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, flight attendant Helena Afroughi agreed and explained that it is the most effective way to get a free upgrade.

The crew member said: “What always works is when people bring some sweets to the crew, chocolates or whatever. And they make themselves known, don’t just give it and run away.

“Usually, people do it as a thank you but I’ve seen it more with people that have family working as crew too so they appreciate the crew more.

“Like if someone brings chocolate or something we ask them if they are crew because we automatically think it’s because of that.

“When people do that, the cabin chief would be like ‘make sure you go and ask them if he wants coffee or tea’ because we can give it for free. Obviously not everything from the snack bar though.”
