Steve Bleasby, 58, and his partner were turned away from the Royal Hotel in the city of Hull. The pair arrived at the hotel at around 5pm on Saturday to check in ahead of the concert.
However, they were shocked when no room was available for them even though they had received no notification.
Steve Bleasby said: “We booked it at least two months ago. We wanted a cheap hotel to stay, or rather, that was cheaper than taking a taxi back.
“When we turned up the doors were locked. It was very frustrating at the time.”
A member of hotel staff told them that there was no room available for their booking on Saturday night.
The couple were told that they should have received an email from Booking.com, notifying them of the change.
Bleasby and his partner then contacted Booking.com which said it had had no notification of the hotel being unavailable.
Steve said: “They said they were still taking bookings for the hotel.”
By Sunday midday, there were no rooms available to book at the Royal Hotel in Hull until at least January 1, 2022.
A member of hotel staff confirmed that no bookings were available until January at the accommodation.
The couple were forced to book last minute accommodation elsewhere in the city due to the error.
Steve said: “It all worked out fine in the end, but if there were no hotels available in the area, we don’t know what we’d have done.”
He was attending Steve Steinman’s Anything for Love- The Meat Loaf story concert at Hull Bonus Arena.
He added: “It was very good, there were over 2,000 people in attendance. The show had been cancelled two times before due to the Covid pandemic, so we had been waiting two years for the concert.”
The Royal Hotel in Hull is located in the centre of the city and is very close to the train station.
It is possible to book the hotel through Booking.com although the platform also says there are no rooms available until January.
The hotel is also listed on other booking platform websites where the earliest booking date is also shown as January.
The incident occurred at the weekend on November 6, 2021, as the couple tried to check in ahead of the concert.
Express.co.uk contacted Booking.com for a comment.
The platform said it was looking into the incident.
Express.co.uk has also contacted the Britannia Hotels which owns the Royal Hotel in Hull.
