Winter Festival opens in London with rides from cancelled Hyde Park event

A magical Winter Festival has opened up in London this Christmas.

It will feature rides and stalls from Winter Wonderland, which was scheduled to take place in Hyde Park before it got cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

On December 5, the event will open in Brent Cross in North London.

The website explains: “New for 2020, the Winter Festival at Brent Cross is a festive treat for all the family.

“Featuring a host of exciting rides and attractions, amazing food outlets and one of London's largest Ice Rinks, Winter Festival is a must-see attraction.”

Other exciting attractions include The Yeti Ride, which promises plenty of sudden drops, spins and bounces to delight thrill-seekers.

There are also other exciting rides for older children and adults such as Santa’s Spinning Coaster and Mach 5.

Or for younger kids and families, there are carousels, fun houses, Santa's grotto and a mini swing ride.

If guests need a break from all the adrenaline, they can kick back in the Carousel Bar.

It will be serving a mixture of alcohol tipples and soft drinks in front of a fun backdrop.

The website adds: “Due to current Government guidance and local restrictions, for guests wishing to stay within the bar area we are only able to serve alcohol if you are eating in the Carousel Bar.

“If you wish to reserve a table and consume alcohol you will be required to eat from the menu that's available on the day. For all other guests, alcoholic drinks are available for takeaway only (outside of the Carousel Bar area).”

Organisers have put plenty of measures in place to keep visitors as safe as possible during the festive season.

Attendees are required to wear a face covering at all times – and can be banned entry if they refuse to comply.

The only exceptions are those with medical exemption cards or children who are under the age of 11.

Before heading to Winter Festival at Brent Cross, you must book a ticket online.

The website explains: “We are operating on a limited number capacity to ensure social distancing measures can be met. Please make your booking online, where possible.”

To prevent crowding, organisers have warned they may close attractions from time to time.

There are also hand washing stations dotted around the event, safety screens and signage to encourage social distancing.

The website states: “Please follow the guidance and do not book or arrange to attend the event with more than 6 persons.

“We are legally obligated to enforce this rule and request that you help us by not attending in groups that do not follow the rule of 6."
