You can book stays at the palace used in Netflix’s The Empress for £163 a night

Historical romance fans who wish they could spend a night in their favourite show could be in luck this winter thanks to Airbnb.

To celebrate the blinding success of Netflix’s glamorous new show The Empress, Airbnb is listing one of the series’ most iconic filming locations.

The series tells the tale of rebellious Elisabeth (“Sisi”) when she meets Franz, Emperor of Austria and follows as the young couple’s extraordinary love completely jumbles the dynasty’s power structure.

You’ll feel like a true royal about to embark on your own quest to win the heart of an aristocrat in the lavish baroque-style Weissenstein Palace.

Immerse yourself in historical splendour with evocative furniture, accents and the jaw-dropping grounds of this real life 18th century castle in Pommersfelden, Bavaria.

The remarkable palace is opening up a sumptuous suite which has been given an imperial makeover to take guests back into the time of Empress Elizabeth in the late 19th Century.

Located in Pommersfelden, Bavaria, a region in Germany, the palace has a rich history and serves as the setting for character Sisi’s royal residence in The Empress.

From November 2 2022, holidaymakers can stay in the suite by booking through Airbnb.

Weissenstein Palace has been occupied by the same family since its construction in the 18th century: the House of Schönborn.

Host Countess Benedicta von Schönborn-Wiesentheid will welcome tourists to the palace and lead them through the magnificent entrance hallway to their grand suite.

Located in the west wing of the palace, the suite is normally exclusively reserved for the Schönborn family, but this has all changed after the show.

During the stay, those who book the room will be given an exclusive tour of the house, seeing parts of the buildings that are closed off to the public – including the ornate ‘Shell Room’ – where a Sisi-inspired dinner and breakfast will be served.

Host Countess Benedicta von Schönborn-Wiesentheid commented: “Empress Elizabeth, fondly nicknamed Sisi, is an all-time favourite historical figure: a sportswoman, fashion icon, traveller, poet and tragic heroine who fell to an assassin’s blade.

“As she was born in Bavaria, it’s both exciting and fitting to bring this legendary woman home and share a little glimpse into her world.”

Those looking to stay can book from November 2 at 6pm at the price of £163 plus taxes and fees.

But, you’d better be quick as only two stays are available on June 19 and June 20 2023…

Those attending the glamorous Airbnb must obey all local Covid-19 rules and restrictions.

You can check current travel rules on the gov.uk website and should check if they need to wear masks on public transport or in shops and streets.

Weissenstein isn't the only castle or palace for Brits to stay in though.

Anyone looking for a haunting experience can book into Ayrshire Castle in Scotland where guests report ghostly experiences.

Or, if you want your jaw to drop as you enter your holiday accommodation then head to the Palace of Versaille s where you'll even get to enjoy the Hall of Mirrors in privacy.
